WCSU to host Multicultural Meditation event

DANBURY, CONN. — The Institute for Holistic Health Studies (IHHS), Center for Compassion, Creativity and Innovation, Office of InterCultural Affairs and Honors Students of Compassion at WCSU will host Multicultural Meditation at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019, in the Student Center on the university’s Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. Registration will begin at 3:45 p.m. with programming commencing at 4 p.m. It is free and the public is invited.

The event will serve to allow attendees to explore a variety of styles of meditation to help quiet the mind and bring peace. The quest for peace — personal peace, collective peace and global peace — is universal. As participants join and meditate, the intent is to invite peace and light into the darker areas of our lives and our world.

Following an introduction by Dr. Christopher Kukk, workshops will proceed concurrently as follows:

4:15 – 5 p.m.: “Breath, Balance and Motion” (Moving Meditation/Yoga) by Lara Ward in the Midtown Student Center Theater; “Listening to You” (Sound Meditation) by Stephen Dydo in the Midtown Student Center Danbury Room; and “Meet Your Spirit Animal” (Contemporary Shamanistic Journey Meditation) by Deana Paqua in Room 202 of the Midtown Student Center.

5:15 – 6 p.m.: “Explore the Ancient Chinese Practice of Qigong” (Qigong) by Alejandro Velasquez in Room 209 of the Midtown Student Center; “The River of Sound” (Guided Insight Meditation) by Valerie West-Rosenthal in the Midtown Student Center Danbury Room; and “One with Sound” (Hummingbird Sound Meditation) by Bobbi Soares in Room 202 of the Midtown Student Center.

6:15 – 7 p.m.: “The Nature Effect: Eco-Energy Meditation” (Eco Energy Meditation) by Marcia Kendall in Room 201 of the Midtown Student Center; “Inner Focus” (Guided Meditation) by Hina Patel in Room 209 of the Midtown Student Center; and “The Sacred Way of the Bees” (Shamanic Meditation) by Herman Olivera in the Midtown Student Center Danbury Room.

7:15 – 8 p.m.: “Loving Kindness Meditation Success” (Guided Visual Meditation) by Deborah Augenbraun in Room 201 of the Midtown Student Center; and “Meditation Made Easy” (Mudras Meditation) by Jesse Rovero in the Midtown Student Center Danbury Room.
