WCSU to host Business Innovation Week
DANBURY, CONN. — The Western Connecticut State University Marketing Club will host Business Innovation Week from Monday, Oct. 21, to Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at several locations on the university’s Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. The events will be free and the public is invited. They are sponsored by Bill Imada, chairman and CCO of advertising and public relations agency IW Group Inc.
Upcoming events will include:
Monday, Oct. 21: Jonathan Soares, a 2006 WCSU graduate, will speak at 5:30 p.m. in the Westside Campus Center Ballroom. Soares is CEO of Q Products Inc. and creator of Jonathan’s Q Gourmet BBQ Sauces. He also is the co-founder and CEO of Moo Digital, a software development company.
Tuesday, Oct. 22: Michael Carpanzano, recipient of a Master of Business Administration from WCSU in 2012, will speak at 3 p.m. in Room 212 of the Westside Campus Center. Carpanzano won the 2012 Connecticut Business Model Competition sponsored by the Entrepreneurship Foundation of Connecticut. Also the Grand Prize winner of the Giants Entrepreneurship Challenge, Carpanzano will discuss the use of Kickstarter to market his invention, nuplug, a surge-protected extension cord that can be attached to furniture.
Wednesday, Oct. 23: There will be an Ancell School of Business alumni forum at 6 p.m. in the Westside Campus Center Ballroom.
Monday, Oct. 28: Maureen Gernert, director of the WCSU Career Development Center, will host a resume workshop at 5:30 p.m. in the Westside Campus Center Ballroom.
Tuesday, Oct. 29: Kyle Lyddy, marketing manager at Amplitude Marketing Group Inc. and former University of Connecticut basketball manager, will speak at 3 p.m. in the Westside Campus Center Ballroom. Lyddy is working on a soon-to-be-published book, “From My Seat,” providing a behind-the-scenes look at the 2009 UConn basketball team that went to the Final Four.
Wednesday, Oct. 30: The public is invited to watch WCSU students compete in the second annual “Your Big Idea” competition at 4:30 p.m. in Room 218 of the Westside Classroom Building.
