Western students invited to ‘Career Development Week’ activities

DANBURY, CONN. — November is Career Development Month, and Western Connecticut State University has planned a special week of career development activities for students. During the week of November 2, students will be able to hear from communications experts, spruce up their resumes and create professional online profiles.

Here’s the schedule of events:

Tuesday, Nov. 2, from noon to 1:30 p.m., at the Midtown campus Student Center Theatre
From MTV to WWE! Communications/ Media Alumni Career Panel: Come hear from successful WCSU alums who are working in various areas of communications and media including MTV Networks and WWE. Learn how they navigated their careers in the entertainment industry and ventured into entrepreneurial opportunities. Refreshments served.

Wednesday, Nov. 3, from 9 to 11 a.m., at the Career Development Center, Room 227 in the Midtown campus Student Center
Career Development Center Drop-In Hours: The CDC will be open to students to answer questions about careers, resumes or the center’s programs and services.

Thursday, Nov. 4, at 2 p.m., SC Room 226
How to Create a Professional Profile Using LinkedIn.Com:
This workshop will provide tips on using social networking sites to create professional profiles for networking and job search activities. Refreshments served.

Basic Resume Workshop at 2 p.m., SC Room 226
Pre-registration is required for this space-limited program. The workshop will address elements of a resume, including styles and formats and will focus on highlighting strengths and experiences. To register go to: workshop@www.collegecentral.com/wcsu.
