WestConn to host a ‘Spring Writing Festival’
DANBURY, CONN. — Readings from published authors and poets and a roundtable discussion on the future of journalism will be among the public events at Western Connecticut State University’s Spring Writing Festival.
The public is invited to the following free events during the week of April 12:
• At 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 12, poet and editor of the annual “Best American Poetry” series of anthologies David Lehman will read from his poetry on the first floor of Warner Hall on the university’s Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury.
• At 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, Paola Corso, author of “Giovanna’s 86 Circles” will read from her fiction in the first floor of Warner Hall.
• “The Future of News” will take place at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, in the Student Center Theater on the Midtown campus. A panel of news professionals will discuss convergence journalism, new media formats and the role of journalism in the next decade. The panel of news professionals will include national investigative journalist Russ Baker, News-Times executive editor Art Cummings and Jason Leopold, The Public Record online news site.
