WCSU to feature internationally recognized education experts
DANBURY, CONN. — To highlight Western Connecticut State University’s doctoral program, two distinguished speakers will explore issues related to leadership in schools.
Dr. Joseph S. Renzulli, director of the National Research Center on the Gifted and Talented at the University of Connecticut (UConn), and Dr. Sally M. Reis, a principal investigator for the National Research Center on the Gifted and Talented at UConn, both will present at the Doctorate of Education in Instructional Leadership Distinguished Lecture Series from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday April 26, in Room 202 of the Student Center on the university’s Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury.
The Doctorate of Education program prepares educators who want to explore issues related to leadership in schools for successful careers in teaching and counseling professions. The program will graduate its first students this May.
Renzulli will discuss “Improving Learning for All students,” based on The Renzulli Learning System, which develops an individual profile for every student.
Reis will lecture on “Challenging Talented Readers with Research-Based Strategies,” with a focus on gifted readers and their needs.
“Dr. Renzulli and Dr. Reis are best known for their work in the field of gifted and talented education, which includes school-wide talent development and differentiated instructional practices,” said Dr. Marcia Delcourt, coordinator of Ed.D. program in Instructional Leadership. “We are very fortunate to have them present at the fifth event for the Ed.D. in Instructional Leadership Distinguished Lecture Series.”
