Roberts Avenue School
The historic 56-year run of the Roberts Avenue School came to an end in June 2009, when the facility was closed in preparation for its ultimate demolition. First opened in 1953, the school served as the training ground for Danbury State Teachers College students preparing to be educators. A new neighborhood elementary school, the Ellsworth School, was built on nearby Osborne Street and the former site of the Roberts Avenue School now serves as a greenway on the WCSU Midtown campus.
