Sigma Theta Tau International - Kappa Alpha Chapter
The Kappa Alpha Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, the International Nursing Honor Society, was charted at Western Connecticut State University in 1987. The honor society fosters excellence in nursing focusing on the area of clinical practice, research and education. The Kappa Alpha Chapter inducts students who meet the criteria for membership during their junior and senior years. Activities include a fall dinner meeting with speaker/research presentation; an annual Holiday Tea with research poster presentations; an annual research day with other chapters in Connecticut; and an annual induction ceremony with a renowned speaker. The Chapter awards scholarships to students on an annual basis. Members are entitled to wear the honor cord of the society at graduation.
