On Thursday, August 25th from 9am-noon AccessAbility Services will hold a new student orientation. This is an important event for students with disabilities to attend as we will cover the policies and procedures for requesting disability accommodations and services, campus support services, satisfactory academic progress and financial aid issues, and much more. We will also offer a workshop for parents to help them understand the differences between accommodations at the university versus high school, student responsibilities and the appropriate role of parents in supporting students. Categories of disability may include: learning disabilities, psychological/emotional disturbance, vision or hearing impairment, chronic illness, mobility or speech impairment, autism spectrum, seizure disorder, ADHD, short term injuries and intellectual disabilities. We provide assistance to veterans who are struggling, even if they do not yet have a disability rating.
Please call Laurel Obstgarten at (203) 837-9700 to RSVP or to get more information.
