Collect a RAFFLE TICKET at any required event marked on this schedule with "®" for a chance to win fantastic prizes including half in-state tuition for one semester.  The time of the drawing will be announced.
*New students ONLY.  Students must be present at time of drawing UNLESS THEY HAVE CLASS.  In that case raffle tickets should be dropped off at the Center for Student Involvement (SC 207) before 5pm on the day of the drawing.

Sunday, August 25

T-SHIRTS
Each student should pick up an “Explore. Dream. Discover.” t-shirt in the Midtown Student Center Theater before 1pm.  We would like you to wear the t-shirt during the "Entering the Gates" ceremony, at future sporting events, and on WestConn Wednesdays.

SHUTTLE UPDATE:
The WCSU Shuttle will run Sunday through Tuesday (8/25 - 8/27) between the Westside campus and the Midtown campus, leaving Westside on the hour starting at 7:00 a.m. and leaving Midtown on the half hour.  The last bus will leave from the Midtown Student Center at 11:30 p.m.
The regular schedule starts 8/28/13!

MEALS
Students have to bring their Student IDs in order to receive meals.  Resident students should already be carrying their ID cards at all times but commuters also need to remember to bring their ID cards as they will be their tickets into the cafeteria. 
Students accepted to WCSU after August 3rd, may receive hardcopy meal tickets at check-in.

MOVE-IN DAY

9:00am – 12:00pm
Resident student check-in and move-in will take place in each student's residence hall.  Students need to move in during their appointed color-coded move-in time only!  For more information refer to the check-in email you received or check the Housing and Residence Life website.  Members of various student organizations and athletic teams will be available to assist with luggage.

Midtown Student Center Theater open for students and parents to relax and watch TV on the big screen

10:30am – 12:30pm
Brunch at the Midtown Marketplace (Midtown Student Center) for students and families. Meal Plan begins for resident students so they must swipe ID.  Commuter students are free Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday (swipe ID).

10:30am 1:00am
Commuter student check-in in the Student Center Plaza.  Commuter students do not need to be here early unless they want to take a tour or come for other activities such as the Alumni photo at noon.  Main activities for commuters begin with the line-up at 1pm.

Tours of Midtown campus – leave every hour from the Midtown Student Center lobby at 10:30am, 11:30am, 12:30pm

Alumni Legacy Photo - if one of your parents or grandparents is an alum, please join us on the steps of Old Main for a "Next Generation" photo

Assemble on the sidewalk in front of Old Main for the "Entering the Gates" ceremony which will begin at approximately 1:30pm.  Students will be asked to wear their “Explore. Dream. Discover.” t-shirt which they receive in the Midtown Student Center.  (In case of rain this event will be cancelled).

PLAYFAIR on the Fairfield Hall Lawn (Bill Williams Gym in Berkshire Hall in case of rain) "  – "This is the most popular campus attraction in history for new student orientation programs."  - "This is totally unlike anything else you have ever experienced!  It's entertainment!" - "It's fun!  It's the perfect way to make new campus friendships."  - Come in comfortable clothes and have yourself a great adventure!

The cost for family members is $8.00 per person ($6.00 for kids 12 and under).  Family members should purchase tickets at the Midtown Student Center information desk.  Students need to swipe their Western ID. 
Parents are encouraged to leave after dinner to give their students a chance to settle in.

Progressive Workshops - This program consists of six different dynamic and exciting twenty-minute workshops that will introduce new students to what they need to know to be successful during their first year at WestConn.  The workshops start in the Student Center Theater and rotate every 20 minutes.

RecFest '12 on the Quad (Bill Williams Gym in Berkshire Hall in case of rain.)
Kick back and relax with a game of volleyball or dodgeball in the gym.  Or play some wiffle ball and ultimate Frisbee.  AND, there will be a rock wall and bungee jumping, zorbing (a zorb is a life-size hamster ball) and lawn game tournaments.  Lots of prizes and giveaways and tons of information!!

on the Quad, sponsored by Program Activities Council (PAC). 
DJ Nix in the Mix combines video, lighting and music to bring you the ultimate party experience.  Nix is very known and loved by many colleges and in certain club markets. Over the past two decades, Nix has performed with 50 Cent, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Lil Kim, Young Jeezy, T.I.,  Busta Rhymes, and many more.

The star of MTV's hit show "Disaster Date," K-von's humor has made an international impact.  This hilarious hidden-camera show displays his many talents as each of his characters prove funnier and more outrageous than the last.  Additionally, after a two-year standup comedy tour and an appearance on SHOWTIME, K-von is ready to unleash even more of his 'Hip Pop Culture' brand of comedy both on-screen as well as in comedy clubs.

Casey Weston is a singer-songwriter living in Nashville, Tennessee.  She began performing about 6 years ago with both original songs and covers that “spoke to her”.  She was one of the top two finalists on Adam Levine's team on the first season of The Voice.
