Collect a RAFFLE TICKET at any required event marked on this schedule with "®" for a chance to win fantastic prizes.  Drawing will take place at sometime during the 8:15pm ACT OUT program on September 2 in Ives Concert Hall.

Friday, August 28

T-SHIRTS
Each student should pick up an “Aspire.” t-shirt in the Midtown Student Center Theater before 1pm.  We would like you to wear the t-shirt during the "Entering the Gates" ceremony, at future sporting events, and on Western Wednesdays.

SHUTTLE UPDATE:
The WCSU Shuttle will run Friday through Sunday (8/28 - 8/30) between the Westside campus and the Midtown campus, leaving Westside on the hour starting at 7:00 a.m. and leaving Midtown on the half hour.  The last bus will leave from the Midtown Student Center at 11:30 p.m.
The regular schedule starts 8/31/15!

MEALS
Students have to bring their Student IDs in order to receive meals.  Resident students should already be carrying their ID cards at all times but commuters also need to remember to bring their ID cards as they will be their tickets into the cafeteria. 
Students accepted to WCSU after August 15th may receive hardcopy meal tickets at check-in.

MOVE-IN DAY

9:00am – 12:00pm
Resident student check-in and move-in will take place in each student's residence hall.  Students need to move in during their appointed color-coded move-in time only!  For more information refer to the check-in email you received or check the Housing and Residence Life website.  Members of various student organizations and athletic teams will be available to assist with luggage.

Midtown Student Center Theater open for students and parents to relax and watch TV on the big screen

10:30am – 1:00pm
Brunch at the Midtown Student Center Restaurant for students and families. Meal Plan begins for resident students so they must swipe ID.  Commuter students are free Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (swipe ID). Brunch will be paid for by Orientation.

10:30am 1:00pm
Commuter student check-in in the Student Center Plaza.  Commuter students do not need to be here early unless they want to take a tour or come for other activities such as the Alumni photo at noon.  Main activities for commuters begin with the line-up at 1pm.

Building Academic Success
-Parent Workshop located in the Student Center
Is your student unsure about how to pick a major or questioning whether s/he has chosen a suitable major? How can your student get off to a good start at college? What should the game plan be for success? And speaking of success, how does your student find out about cooperative education/internship and career options? These questions will be addressed by representatives from our Academic Advisement Center and Career Development Center. Learn some tips for academic success; find out about assessments that can assist your student in choosing a suitable major; get important tips that will boost your student's chances for success, beginning the very first semester.

Alumni Legacy Photo - if one of your parents or grandparents is an alum, please join us on the steps of Old Main for a "Next Generation" photo - followed by an Alumni Reception in the Irfan Kathwari Honors House

Assemble on the sidewalk in front of Old Main for the "Entering the Gates" ceremony which will begin at approximately 1:30pm.  Students will be asked to wear their “Aspire.” t-shirt which they receive in the Midtown Student Center.  (In case of rain this event will be cancelled).

Parents are encouraged to leave after dinner to give their students a chance to settle in.

'Asking for It' -
Ives Concert Hall
Come check out a live interactive theater experience presented by the Women's Center of Greater Danbury raising awareness and effecting social change utilizing professional and highly trained student actors in theatrical scenarios depicting real life situations. Act Out will present 'Asking for It' as part of WCSU's orientation week. 'Asking for It' is an exploration of sexual assault on college campuses. Facilitated by our educator, audience members are allowed to interview the actors, who remain in character throughout the presentation. This engaging form of socio-education opens lively and thought provoking discussions that force the characters and audience members to confront personal and societal views on the presented subjects.
