January 2011 Orientation
Welcome to Western Connecticut State University's January Orientation website. When is January Orientation? January Orientation will be held the Wednesday before classes start, January 19, 2011. (Snow date: Thursday, January 20, 2011). Please check our website for weather alerts or tune in to your local TV or radio station for WestConn closings. You can also sign up for our Emergency Notification System.
Where is January Orientation? Midtown Campus, Warner Hall Please park in the 5th Avenue Commuter Parking Garage which is right next to Warner Hall (http://www.wcsu.edu/campustour/). Signs will guide you to the check-in table where students will receive name tags and information packages. What is January Orientation? Events: You and your parents are invited to a special Orientation Session on January 19th at 6:30 p.m. in Warner Hall on the Midtown Campus. (If you still have questions regarding your class schedule or would like to make any changes to your schedule, staff from the Registrar's office will be available to help you between 4:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in Warner Hall 318 that evening. The registration process takes about 30 minutes for each student. For those of you who arrive early and are looking to eat dinner before the program, there are several restaurants within walking distance of the campus.) The main program will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a welcome from President Schmotter while dessert is being served. A group of current students, some of them transfers, will then provide some insight into life at WestConn. Afterwards you will get a chance to meet your fellow students, your academic dean, and some of the faculty of your school. Your parents meanwhile will be able to attend an introductory workshop which answers questions and provides suggestions on how best to support you, the student, during your career at WestConn.
