Dr. Allen D. Morton
Dean, Ancell School of Business
Allen D. Morton is the Dean of the Ancell School of Business. He has an A.B. in Economics from Harvard College, an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a Doctorate of Professional Studies in Economics and Finance from Pace University. Prior to becoming Dean, Dr. Morton was a faculty member and chair of the Finance Department in the Ancell School of Business and he worked as a budget manager and financial analyst for the Savin Corporation and General Foods Corporation.
As Dean, Dr. Morton has worked to enhance the visibility of the Ancell School and the University and was instrumental in bringing speakers to campus such as Leo O'Neil, the President of Standard and Poors, David Neeleman, the CEO of JetBlue Airways, as a part of the Ancell School's CEO Forum. He also worked to bring other speakers, such as James Earl Jones to the University.
On the academic side, Dr. Morton has worked closely with the Ancell School's academic departments to strengthen and broaden the Ancell School's academic and professional offerings in an array of areas, ranging from forensic accounting to information assurance to management development programs for area corporations. Additionally, Dr. Morton is committed to academic excellence, and has emphasized and funded faculty scholarship and development, cross-functional curriculum development, and student learning activities.
Dr. Morton is a strong advocate of experiential learning and he has worked closely with area businesses and not-for-profit organizations to create opportunities for these organizations to serve as student mentors and participate in student assignments and projects.
Dr. Morton is actively involved in the region and has served as the chair of the City of Danbury's economic development commission and has provided commentary to local radio stations on economic policy, corporate governance and financial markets. In addition, Dr. Morton is a panelist for the Public Relations Society of America on business ethics and he writes articles on shareholder value and its relationship to ethics. He serves on the Putnam County Asset Securitization Board he is the chair of the board of trustees and finance committee at his church.
