Original composition wins award

A work inspired by the Sasquatch earned Professor of Music and Music Education Dr. Kevin Jay Isaacs an award from the Global Music Association. The four-movement composition, Skookum Suite Op. 112, was granted the GMA's Award of Merit in the composition category. The GMA is a top-tier music competition based in California that honors talented musicians around the world.

The original piece is one of several Western contributions on "Mad Dances: American Music for Saxophone and Piano," an album of contemporary compositions for saxophone released by Albany Records. WCSU Dean of the School of Visual and Performing Arts Dr. Dan Goble, on saxophone, and Professor of Music and Music Education Dr. Russell Hirshfield, on piano, are also featured on the album.
