Billy Armstrong nearly hurled a no hitter against Plymouth State in the Little East Conference opener on Saturday. The second batter in the eighth inning blooped a ball to left to break up the gem. Armstrong went eight full, allowed one hit and an unearned run. After 138 pitches, he registered nine strike outs and walked five. On the season, Armstrong is averaging 12.05 strike outs per nine innings.
