Colonials end spring campaign with the naming of the 2008 captains

DANBURY, CT - (May 2, 2008) - Western Connecticut has named Allan Bowan (Hamden, CT), Mike Leonard (Jamesport, NY) and Jason Santiago (Cromwell, CT) captains for the 2008 season. The announcement was made by seventh year head coach John Burrell, following the final spring workout.

Bowen, a senior wide receiver, was fourth on the team a year ago with 30 catches for 403 yards and two touchdowns.

Leonard, a senior center, was the catalyst of the Colonials' offensive line in 2008. The gridders averaged 95.7 yards on the ground and 239.5 yards via the airways last season.

Santiago returns for his final season in the WestConn offensive backfield. As a junior, he carried the ball 28 times for 146 yards and one touchdown.

The Colonials, which open the new season at home on Friday, September 12 against Albright College, went 4-6 in '07.
