Western football hands out end-of-the-season awards announced

DANBURY, CT (Dec. 9) —  The Western Connecticut State University football coaching staff announced its end-of-the-season awards on Friday.

Below is the list of the Awards and 2011 Recipients:

Team Most Valuable Player - Mike Farnsworth, Jr, DE, Colchester, CT

Offensive Player of the Year - Dion Small, So. RB, Waterbury, CT

Defensive Player of the Year - Mike Farnsworth, Jr., DE, Colchester, CT

Special Team Player of the Year - Ryan Falaguerra, Fr., P, Milford, CT

Rookie of the Year - Will Arndt, Fr., QB, Newtown, CT

Man in the Glass - Kyle McCarthy, Sr. OT, Colchester, CT

Brian Blanchard Award - Greg Galasso, Sr., LB, Brewster, NY
(awarded to a senior with outstanding mental, physical and spiritual achievement)

Jamie Caron Award - Tyrell Ballard, Jr., SS, Bridgeport, CT
(awarded to the most outstanding defensive back)
