Western men improve to 7-1 with 65-43 win at Cobleskill

DANBURY, CT (Feb. 4) — The SUNY Cobleskill men’s basketball team dropped their eighth consecutive contest to start the season Monday night versus visiting Western Connecticut State University in non-league action by a 65-43 margin at the Iorio Gymnasium. The Colonials opened the game on a 13-2 run and never looked back improving their overall record to 7-1 while the Fighting Tigers fell to 0-8.

Western Connecticut demonstrated great offensive balance as 10 different players scored in the contest led by freshman forward Luis Bridtter (Stamford, Conn.) who came off the bench to score 11 points and grab four rebounds and by senior guard DaQuan Brooks (Atlanta, Ga.), who scored 10 points to go with a team-high of five assists. Senior forward Mark Redding (Waterbury, Conn.)was also a force for the visitors with eight points, six rebounds and two assists.

The Fighting Tigers received a game high 14 points from senior swingman Clint Foster (Candor, N.Y.), while senior point guard Brendan Doherty (Binghamton, N.Y.) chipped in seven points, four rebounds and three assists on the evening.

Cobleskill will return to action on Wednesday December 7th when they host the Saxons of Alfred University beginning at 7:00 p.m. while Western Connecticut will next be in action on Thursday December 8th when they take to the road to meet Framingham State College in Framingham, Mass. beginning at 7:00 p.m.
