Little East Announces 25th Anniversary Men's Basketball Team

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA (Mar. 3) —As part of its Silver Anniversary celebration, the Little East 25th Anniversary Men's Basketball Team was announced this afternoon by the conference office. The 25- student-athlete and one coach squad was voted upon by athletic administrators and current coaches. The highly-decorated team is highlighted by 19 player of the year award winners, including eight multiple honorees, and seven rookie of the year award recipients.
Each of the eight Little East institutions was represented on the Silver Anniversary team. The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth placed the highest amount of student-athletes on the Silver Anniversary team with seven, while Keene State College, Rhode Island College, University of Southern Maine, and Western Connecticut State University each had three honorees. The University of Massachusetts Boston and Plymouth State University was represented with a pair of selections, while Eastern Connecticut State University completed the 25-member roster with one pick.
To be considered for the 25th anniversary teams, a student-athlete must have met the following criteria: a conference player of the year award winner, and/or a two- time All-Little East, first-team selection. The student-athletes that earned All-Little East, first-team honors during its first two years as a conference-sponsored sport were placed on the ballot.

Initially formed in 1986 as a six-team men's and women's basketball conference, the Little East Conference has since grown to its present eight-school membership, sponsoring championship play in 19 intercollegiate athletics: baseball; men's and women's basketball; men's and women's cross country; field hockey; men's and women's lacrosse; men's and women's soccer; softball; women's swimming; men's and women's tennis; men's and women's indoor track; men's and women's outdoor track and women's volleyball. The 2010-11 academic years marks the 25th anniversary for the Little East Conference.
