Western men fall to Arcadia, 3-0 in season opener at Drew Tournament


DANBURY, CT (Aug. 31) —  The Western Connecticut State University men's soccer team came up on the short end of a 3-0 decision to Arcadia University in the 2012 Drew University Tournament on Friday night.

Arcadia, 1-0, scored in the 12th minute when Dean Search found his the back of the net with an unassisted goal.

They scored a pair of insurance goals in the second half. First Nick Morris converted a penalty kick at the 55:42 mark then Alex Wells finished off a crossing pass from John Pacana with 27 minutes remaining in the contest.

Western's Jack Holub (Sherman, CT) made three saves in goal for the Colonials, now 0-1.

Arcadia's Seth Shoap and Ryan Lantzy each made a stop as Western registered just three shots at goal.

The Colonials will take on The College of New Jersey in the second day of the Drew Tournament on Saturday. Game time is slated for 3 pm.
