Western softball drops two at Eastern, 4-1 and 4-3

MANSFIELD, CT (Apr. 24) — Eastern gained the No. 1 tournament seed for the third straight year with its 31st and 32nd straight wins. A bases loaded ground ball drove in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning with one out in the second game. Molly Rathbun won her 20th and 21st straight games with a complete game in the opener and  3 2/3 innings of relief in the nightcap. Arielle Cooper hit safely in both games to extend her program record to 25 straight. She led off the  eighth inning with her only hit after Rathbun allowed the tying run in the top of the sixth inning.
