Jackie Zilnicki and Magen Dargon earn Little East Conference honors

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA (Mar. 19) - Western Connecticut seniors Jackie Zilnicki and Magen Dargon have been named Little East Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for the week ending March 18.
Player of the Week
Jackie Zilnicki (Riverhead, N.Y.), Senior, Western Connecticut State University
Zilnicki opened the 2012 season on a torrid pace at the plate for Western Connecticut, posting a hit in eight of her 11 at-bats for a .727 batting average. The senior from Riverhead, N.Y. has recorded at least one hit in each of her four games, including registering multiple hits three times. On March 17, Zilnicki went 3-for-4 from the dish with a RBI against Washington and Jefferson. The following morning, she went 2-for-2 against No. 1 Luther College as the Colonials edged the Norse in extra innings.
Pitcher of the Week
Magen Dargon (Trumbull, Conn.), Senior, Western Connecticut State University
In four appearances, Dargon posted a 4-0 mark with a 0.58 earned run average as Western Connecticut opened the 2012 campaign at the Spring Rebel Games in Clermont, Fla. The senior from Trumbell, Conn. allowed just two earned runs in her debut against Geneseo State, but has since held her opponents scoreless. Dargon turned in her finest performance in the pitching circle against top-ranked Luther College on March 18, striking out nine in a complete-game shutout victory. She also scattered three hits in a five and third inning win against Hood College on March 16. The following afternoon, Dargon tossed a shutout against Bates College.
