Western volleyball battles to the end, but falls to WNEU 3-2


SPRINGFIELD, MA (Sep. 7) —  The Western Connecticut State University volleyball team repeatedly battled from behind, continuing to extend the match, before finally falling 15-13 in the fifth and final game against Western New England University Friday evening on the opening day of the WNEU Invitational.

Statistical leaders for Western, now 2-3 on the season, where senior Paxton Thornton (Sharon, CT) with 20 kills and 24 digs, sophomore Jennifer Hogan (Franklin Square, NY) with 34 assists, and junior Rachel Volpe (Southington, CT) with three service aces and 14 digs.

The Colonials return to action on Saturday, September 8th, as play continues at the WNEU Invitational.
