Western volleyball claims a pair of 3-0 victories Saturday afternoon
BRIDGEWATER, MA (Oct. 13) —
The Western Connecticut State University volleyball team won a pair of straight-set 3-0 victories over Bridgewater State University and Wheaton College Saturday afternoon at Bridgewater State.
Against the Lyons, the Colonials won 25-21, 26-24, 25-19. Later in the day, they got by the Bears, 25-20, 25-21 and 25-11.
Over the two victories, senior Paxton Thornton (Sharon, CT) recorded 24 kills and a .211 hitting percentage on 71 attempts. She also had 10 service aces and nine digs.
Patroling the offense again was sophomore setter Jenny Hogan (Franklin Square, NY) who tallied 54 sets, 10 digs and five aces.
At the net, Nina Wojtkiewicz (Griswold, CT) and Caitlin Van Camp (Redding, CT) each had five total blocks.
The Colonials are now 15-10 overall and have won four matches in a row and seven of their last nine outings.
On Tuesday, October 16, Western travels to three-time defending Little East Conference champions University of Massachusetts Boston. The match is slated to begin at 6 pm.
