Paxton Thornton and Kelley Collins named Little East Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week

Paxton Thornton (Sharon, Conn.)

Paxton Thornton fueled the Western Connecticut attack with 136 kills (4.25 per set), a .288 hitting percentage,
and seven service aces to spark a 7-1 overall record. The Sharon, Conn. product reached double figures
in kills in each of her eight matches, including a season-best 24 winners against Baruch on Sept. 6. Three
days later, Thornton had her most efficient match against Westfield State when she recorded 17 kills
and just one error for a .516 hitting percentage. She collected a season-high three service aces against
Emerson College on Sept. 9.

Kelley Collins (Massapequa, N.Y.)

Kelley Collins has posted 196 digs (6.12 per set) to help Western Connecticut begin the campaign with an
overall record of 7-1. The native of Massapequa, N.Y. has registered at least 20 digs in seven of her eight
matches, including eclipsing the 30-dig mark twice. Collins collected a season-best 32 digs against Colby
Sawyer College, while coming one dig shy of her season high against Baruch.
