Melissa Teel named NCAA Division III State Farm Coaches' All-American
WBCA and State Farm® Honor the 2011 NCAA Division III
State Farm Coaches’ All-America Team
ATLANTA, GA (Mar. 18) —The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and State Farm® announced on Friday the 2011 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III State Farm Coaches’ All-America Team.
Western's senior center Melissa Teel (Hamden, CT) was named to the All-America Team after another outstanding season for the 24-4 Colonials. She and her team advanced to the second round of the 2011 NCAA Division III Championships for the second-straight season.
The 6'2" force in the middle averaged 18.2 points, 12.6 rebounds and 4.3 blocked shots in her final season .
She broke several records this season and will go down as one of the best basketball players to put on a uniform at Western During her final season, she became the first Colonials to surpass 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
The 10-member team was selected by a vote of the selection committee. The committee is comprised of one representative from each of the eight geographical regions and a chairperson.
