Cecilia Dias and Katie Wolfe selected to play in USA Division III
Women's Soccer All-Star Team in Brazil

SAO PAULO, BRAZIL (May 22) —  Western Connecticut State University's Cecilia Dias (Prospect, CT) and Katie Wolfe (Suffern, NY) have been invited to join the USA D-3 Soccer All Star Team as it travels to Brazil for games as well as cultural experiences.

The USA D-III Soccer All Stars are invited men's and women's players from across the country.  Each player was recognized by their Regions, Conferences and Universities.  The 2011 USA D-III All Star Teams consisted of several All-Region and All-Conference selections.

“I believe that the players on these teams will be some of the same players we see recognized as All-Americans, All-Region and All-Conference players in 2012.  This is an outstanding group of young men and women.” says Ron Smith.  “This tour is designed to expose players to a great soccer experience while providing a once in a lifetime opportunity for educational, cultural and social growth.”

The USA D-III Soccer tour will run from May 19 through May 28.  The squad will begin with orientation and practice in Orlando, Florida for the first two days before flying to Sao Paulo, Brazil for back-to-back-to-back contests in the City of Jundiai and the state of Sao Paulo on May 21, 22 and 23.  The teams will then travel to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for one more contest on May 26.  The two USA D-3 Soccer teams will be competing against top U-22 club teams from the States of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

Aside from representing the USA on the pitch, the trip will also provide the group of All-Stars with educational, social and cultural outreach opportunities within the communities they visit, and will also allow them to visit schools and historical sites throughout Brazil.

Annie Haws, Assistant Coach of the College of Saint Benedict in Saint Joseph, MN will be the Head Coach of the Women's USA D-III Soccer Team.
