NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA (Oct. 25) —  The Western Connecticut State University women's soccer team had three of its players honored by the Little East Conference this week, after going 3-0 for the week ending October 23.

LEC Offensive Player of the Week

Lauren Francisco produced nine points on four goals and an assist to lead Western Connecticut to a 3-0 mark this past week. The senior striker from Ludlow, Mass. netted at least one marker in each match. Francisco delivered the game-winning goal against Kean and Western New England. She recorded a season-high five points at the Golden Bears, scoring two goals and adding a helper. Francisco netted a marker in the Little East victory at UMass Boston this past weekend. She has scored at least one point in five of her past six matches

Samantha Trayer and her Western Connecticut defensive teammates allowed just two goals in three victories this past week. The junior back from Oakville, Conn. limited Western New England to just one shot on net to post the Colonials’ ninth shutout of the season. Western Connecticut held UMass Boston’s top-ranked offense to just one marker on three shots on net this past weekend. The victory moved the Colonials into a two-way tie with Eastern Connecticut for second in the Little East standings.

In two matches this past week, Caitlin Avery posted a 1.00 goals against average to backstop Western Connecticut to a 2-0 mark, including a victory at Little East rival UMass Boston. The junior from East Hampton, Conn. stopped nine out of the 11 shots she faced. Avery made seven saves in the victory over Kean, while stopping a pair of attempts at the Beacons.
