Medley Relay DQ costly as Western swimmers finish Day 1 in 15th Place
WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, VT (Feb. 17) — Sophomore Danielle Leprine (New Fairfield, CT) swam to a seventh-place finish in the 200 Yard Individual Medley (2:19.18), but a disqualification in the 400 Medley Relay cost the Western Connecticut State University women's swimming team a chance to move up in the standings, as the Colonials find themselves in 15th place after Day 1 of the New England Swimming Championships.
Also earning points on Day 1 for Western was sophomore Beth Magin (Brookfield, CT), with a 13-place finish in the 50 Freestyle in a time of :25.89, and senior Nancy Xu (Middlebury, CT) who finished in :35.14 in the 50 Breaststroke, good for 23rd place.
Day 2 of the New England Championships continues at the Upper Valley Aquatics Center in White River Junction, Vermont, Saturday, February 18th. The morning preliminary swims begin at 10:00am with the championship final heats beginning at 5:30pm.
