Kelly Niznansky named Head Women's Tennis coach at Western

DANBURY, CT (Aug. 2) — Kelly Niznansky has been named Head Women’s Tennis Coach by Western Connecticut State University Director of Athletics Ed Farrington.

Niznansky fills the coaching position vacated when Stacy Slater resigned in May after five seasons at the Colonials’ helm.  Slater compiled a 39-27 record and led Western to the NCAA Division III National Tournament in the spring of 2011 after capturing the Little East Conference Tournament title during the fall of 2010.

Niznansky comes to Western after stints as the Head Girl’s Tennis Coach at nearby Danbury High School (2010-11) and Weston High School (2003-04).

Since 2006, she has been the Coordinator of the Junior United States Tennis Association Team at Four Seasons Racquet Club in Wilton, Conn.  For the past two summers, she has been the Head Tennis Pro at the Weston Field Club.

The Fairfield, Conn. native graduated with a degree in Human Resources from Lynn University, in Boca Raton, Fla. in 2003.

The Colonials open the 2011 season on September 12 when they play host to Purchase College at Westside Courts.
