Greg Poole Named Head Women's Volleyball Coach At Western Connecticut State University

DANBURY, CT - Western Connecticut State University has named Gregory Poole Head Women's Volleyball Coach, announced Director of Athletics Ed Farrington.
"I am excited about coming to Western Connecticut State University.  With a rich tradition of excellence backing up the women's volleyball program," said Poole.  "There is a tremendous opportunity to develop WestConn back into power in the Little East Conference."
Poole most recently was the Head Women's Volleyball Coach and Coordinator of Intramurals and Recreation at Western New England College in Springfield, Massachusetts.

He compiled a 136-114 record (54.4%) in nine seasons as the Head Coach of the Golden Bears. He led his teams to three straight 20-win seasons from 2002-04 and directed his squad to a 16-15 mark this past fall. His squads also advanced to the semifinals of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament the last six years.
Poole, a native of Fairport, New York, is a 1996 graduate of Springfield College where he was a member of the men’s volleyball team.
He takes over for Pablo Baez who guided the Colonials through a 10-14 overall record and 3-4 mark in the highly competitive Little East Conference.
Prior to Baez's one-year stint, WestConn won 20 or more games in six of the seven previous seasons under Richard Myers.  During that same stretch, the Colonials won 49 straight Little East Conference matches.
