Kathryn Campbell, Department of Education & Educational Psychology
Dr. Kathryn Campbell, is an Associate Professor of Education and Educational Psychology. She received her Ph. D. from Teachers College, Columbia University in 1995, where her dissertation won the Miriam Goldberg Research Prize. She received her M. S. in Education from Hunter College of the City University of New York in 1976 and her B. S. in Education from Dakota State College in 1970.
Prior to joining the Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) faculty in 1996, she had worked for 26 years in a variety of professional capacities, including becoming a classroom teacher, school administrator, reading specialist, educational consultant, psycho-educational evaluator and psychologist. In addition, Dr. Campbell has taught academic courses in reading at Teachers College, Columbia University and Bank Street College of Education in New York City. She is a licensed psychologist in both Connecticut and New York States and holds Certifications in the areas of School Psychologist, Reading Specialist and Teacher of Elementary Grades. At WCSU, Dr. Campbell teaches courses in statistics and research methods, interviewing, and in individual and multicultural counseling in the Counselor Education Program, where she also supervises graduate student interns in school counseling. She was the recipient of the 2010 CSU Trustee’s University-level Teaching Award. Dr. Campbell’s research interests include the effect of affective factors on cognition and learning.
