Faculty Biographical Sketches
Robin James, Department Education and Educational Psychology
Dr. Robin James, is Coordinator of the Secondary Education Program and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education and Educational Psychology, where she teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in literacy/reading pedagogy, technology applications in the classroom and assessment of teaching strategies during the student teaching fieldwork semester. In all of her courses, she highlights differentiated instruction strategies for effectively accommodating the needs of English Language Learners. She received her Ph.D. in Education-Applied Linguistics from the University of New Mexico in 1993, Albuquerque, NM, her M.A. in English/Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Arizona State University in 1990 and her B.A. from the American University in 1984. Her research has focused on English Language Learners, Learning Communities, Online teaching and learning, and teacher preparation best practices. In addition to teaching at WCSU since 2011, she has also taught at the College of New Rochelle, Skidmore College, Mercy College and LaGuardia Community College/CUNY.
