Faculty Biographical Sketches

Jeanette Lupinacci, Department of Nursing

Dr. Lupinacci currently serves the nursing department in the role of Department Chair.
She first joined Western Connecticut State University Department of Nursing as an adjunct (2005), then moved onto role of visiting professor, and lastly, moved onto full-time faculty role (2007).  She received her B.S. in nursing from Quinnipiac University, M.S. in medical surgical nursing (Clinical Nurse Specialist Tract) from Western Connecticut State University, and lastly her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Hartford.

Educational Background: Dr. Lupinacci has been teaching since 2005.  She has taught the following courses: NUR 235 Medical Surgical I-clinical, NUR 255 Medical Surgical II (lab and clinical), NUR 205 Fundamental of Nursing, NUR 225 Drugs and Diagnostics, NUR 504 Graduate Nursing Research class, and began Thesis Advisement in 2013.  Pas clinical experience: Rehabilitation Nursing (complex medical cases, in-patient rehabilitation unit).

Dr. Lupinacci has been a registered nurse for 15 years.  She is certified in Rehabilitation Nursing as a staff nurse.  She is Vice President of Kappa Alpha Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International.  She is a member of the Rehabilitation Nursing Association, the Association for Advancement of Educational Research, and National League for Nursing as well as other associations.

Research Interests:  Characteristics of Mentoring Relationships for new faculty transitioning into academia (Qualitative Research).  Dr. Lupinacci has co-presented findings at the AAER and local research findings.  She also has co-authored an article about the rewards of extern-preceptor relationships.

Current research: Most recently presented at CT collaborative research day 2013, 2014, AAER (Florida) 2013, 2014.  Received Doctoral Student Research Award from AAER in 2013.
