Darla Shaw, Department of Education & Educational Psychology
Dr. Darla Shaw, who is a Fill Professor of Education, is Coordinator of the Master’s Graduate Education Degree Program at WestConn. She is a well-known authority in the field of literacy, presenting both nationally and internationally. She teaches courses in language arts, serves as Faculty Advisor to the Education Club, the Liaison for the Minority Recruitment Program for Future Teachers, and directs numerous school and community based literacy programs for the Danbury community (e.g., Guiding Light, Reading Program for the Homeless of Danbury). Dr. Shaw is also actively involved with the CT State Dept. of Education, CT Department of Higher Education, and is a Board Member of New England Reading Association and a member of the Executive Committee of the International Dxylexia Board. She is an editorial board member of the International Education Association’s Journal and associate editor of National Education Associations Comus Advisory Newsletter. She received her B.S. degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1961, M.A. degree from New York University in l963, her 6th year professional certificate from University of Bridgeport in 1965, and her Ed.D. degree from University of Bridgeport in 1984.
