Sharon Young, Department of Social Work

Dr. Sharon Young joined the Social Work faculty in 2012.  She holds a bachelor of science degree in human development and family relations and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Connecticut.  She received her doctorate in social work from the Graduate School of Social Service at Fordham University.

Dr. Young is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked with adolescents and their families in residential, outpatient, and school settings.  She has worked for many years with difficult to engage youth in substance abuse treatment and community settings. In practice, she developed a prevention theater program that was nationally recognized as an exemplary program by SAMHSA.  Her research interests are in the area of student veteran adjustment to college and she has presented her research at local and national conferences.
