Food Service Policy
The Student Life/Student Activities Office staff works closely with all student organizations in planning events to ensure their program's success, and realizes that food and beverage service may be an integral part of the program. In order to provide quality food and beverages the University has contracted with Sodexo Dining Services which operates on campus as University Dining Services. Through this contract, Sodexo Dining Services reserves the exclusive rights to all food and beverage services on the campus. Light refreshments for member meetings of fewer than 15 people are exempt from this exclusivity requirement.
Students should meet with the Catering Manager as soon as possible to discuss menu options and planning. Room reservations must be made for the facilities prior to meeting with the Catering Manager. University Food Services is equipped to handle catering requirements for events evolving from five to five hundred. From a formal sit-down dinner to an informal BBQ, to a breakfast coffee service, your needs will be well meet. If student organizations will be utilizing their Student Life/Student Activities funds, they must complete a Food Service Request form to insure that funds are available and the funds will then be encumbered. If organizations are not using their Student Life/Student Activities funds, payment will be due to University Dining Services the day of the event.
It is recognized that there are occasions when a particular menu will significantly enhance an event. This might include ethnic food and "best of" food taste-offs. In these instances the Associate Director of Student Life/Student Activities may permit "outside food" after consultation with the General Manager of University Dining Services. In order to guarantee that the food provided by an outside vendor meets appropriate standards of health and quality, an organization seeking permission for outside food must provide the requirements listed below to the Student Life/Student Activities Office at least five business days prior to the event.
When outside food is brought into a WestConn facility, please insure that the vendor is providing everything that will be needed, including plates, utensils, napkins, chafing dishes, ice, etc. Do not expect University Food Services to provide these items.
