I sat in on the debate between WCSU’s Roger Sherman Debate Society and the University of Tartu via video satellite linkup. The room was packed with students and faculty, and I sat against the back wall under the university seal. Directly in front of me was Associate Professor of History and Non-Western Cultures Dr. Wynn Gadkar-Wilcox, who advises the debate society. This was an interesting day because I was proud of WestConn for being part of the “Focus the Nation” day for awareness of global climate change. This particular event was important to me because it was fun to see how students from the other side of the world view the issue and perceive what America’s role should be.
