Notes and Domino Mail Disk Quota

With the migration to version 6.5 of Notes/Domino, faculty and staff will be given a quota of 400 MB for their mail file. At present, faculty and staff R5 users do not have a quota on their mail files1. The default quota for students is 35 MB.

There are different steps for checking your quota from the Web than there are from the Notes client.

Checking your quota from the Web

Immediately after logging into the Lotus Notes web services, click on the "Mail Quota" link.

Figure 1 shows sample output from the "Mail Quota" link. "Disk Space Used" is the estimated size of your mail file2. "Quota" represents the absolute limit your mail file can grow.

Checking your quota from the Notes client

You can check your mail quota from the Notes client by clicking on the "Email Quota" button in the WestConn Tools application. Normally, WestConn Tools is in a folder called "WestConn Bookmarks". If you do not have the WestConn Tools, see below.

Figure 2 shows the sample quota information. "Disk Space Used" is the estimated size of your mail file2. "Quota" represents the absolute limit your mail file can grow.

Accessing  WestConn Tools

If you do not have WestConn Tools bookmarked, complete the following:

  • From the Notes client, open the File menu, select Database -> Open.
  • In the Server field, type "miranda".
  • In the Database field, type "wcsu/WestConnTools.nsf".
  • Click on the Bookmark... button.
  • In the Bookmark window, select Bookmark Bar, then click on the Okay button.
  • The WestConn Tools database is now available from your Bookmark bar.

Footnotes

1. There are a handful of R5 faculty/staff who are located on a special server. Due to the size of this host, their default quota is 200 MB. These users have been individually notified of their quota.

2. The current size of your mail file may change frequently as new messages are delivered and as soft deleted messages expire (Notes 6 only).
