Blackboard Vista Workshop Summaries

Introduction to Vista

This workshop will offer an overview of Vista, a content management system and provide an overview of the tools available.  You will explore the File Management structure of Vista and the user interface from the Designer View and begin to identify the components needed to develop your web-enhanced or online course using Vista.

Communication Tools and Presenting Content

This workshop focuses on Discussions, as well as other communication tools, such as Chat, Whiteboard, Who’s Online and mail.  You will explore several options for presenting content and components to students and examine the differences between Organizer Pages and Learning Modules. Through hands-on activities, you will build Learning Modules and customize the Action Menu to create rich, structured learning paths for students. In this module, you’ll also focus on the key concepts and benefits of Selective Release and gain hands-on knowledge of the Selective Release maps

Assignment, Quizzes and Grade Book

In this workshop, you will become familiar with the Assignment tool, the Assessment Tool (to create quizzes, self tests, and surveys) and using the Grade Book.  You will also learn to work with student records in applications outside of Blackboard Vista and will become familiar with the Group Manager tool and how it can be used to create groups and group activities
