Wireless at WestConn
Use of Wireless networks has become very popular in an academic environment. It is a great technology that offers many benefits and convenience. Wireless allows your computer to be connected to the Internet without the hassle of wiring to the network and allows you to be mobile and use the network freely in wireless coverage areas.
WestConn offers fast and reliable wireless network access to students, faculty, and staff with data connection speeds of up to 54Mbps in selected locations on the Westside and Midtown campuses. To use the wireless network your laptop (or PDA, Pocket PC, tablet etc) must be equipped with a wireless network adapter. WestConn’s Wireless Network supports both 802.11b and 802.11g wireless standards and uses an SSID of ‘WestConn’ for easy connection.
Connecting to WestConn’s Wireless Network is easy. No registration is required, only a valid Windows username and password is needed to successfully authenticate to the network via Blue Socket. Blue Socket technology verifies a users’ authenticity by their Windows username and password before granting them access to the network.
