Jan Mason

Jan Mason has worked as a director, actor and producer in New York City and Boston. Most of her work has been focused on the development of new plays. In Boston she founded her own company, and worked as an actor and director. In New York she worked with Ensemble Studio Theatre (Theatre Lab member), The Women’s Project (Director’s Forum member), New Georges (Affiliated Artist and Roaring Girls member), and Rattlestick, where she also served as Artistic Associate. In addition to directing, she was Managing Director of Arden Party, an Off-Off-Broadway company where she produced Victor or Children Take Over. Recently she worked with the International Festival of Arts and Ideas in New Haven as Program Coordinator for the Ideas portion of the festival. She has taught at the University of Virginia, James Madison University, and currently teaches at WestConn, Southern Connecticut State University, and Housatonic Community College. She holds a BS in Theatre Education from Emerson College, and an MFA in Directing from the University of Virginia. She is an Associate Member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.
