ACTIVE & INVOLVED
“WCSU had everything I wanted .... I could major in
JLA and play softball and volleyball here at Western.
We went to the NCAA tournament three times and to
the LEC. Winning is a feeling almost indescribable until
you get to experience in for yourself. “
NINA WOJTKIEWICZ ’15, B.S., JUSTICE AND LAW ADMINISTRATION
Something’s always happening.
Open Mic Night at the Coffeehouse, Frisbee on the
Quad, plays at the Visual & Performing Arts Center:
just a few of the many ways to have fun at WCSU.
Join in, join up ––
You’re invited!
Show off your moves in the Gaming Club or on
the Dance Team. Be part of Jane Goodall’s Roots
& Shoots environmental organization. Great voice?
Sing with an a capella group! Adventure, Swim,
play Rugby – there are clubs for these and more.
Take part, make friends, shape memories that last.
What’s the takeaway for you?
Whether its having your voice heard in the Student
Government Association or volunteering with your
fraternity, you’ll gain important leadership and
organizational skills. For a new graduate, nothing
says “Hire that person!” like a resume that includes
meaningful roles in campus clubs and organizations.
Athletics:
Playing hard is easy here.
Movement exercises the body ... and the mind.
Here, you’ll have any number of ways to stay fit and
stave off those “freshman fifteen.” Just cheering on
our Colonials as they take on rival teams burns fat!
But the best way to do it? Get out there and play.
Excellent facilities
Including an Athletics Complex with
2,500-seat stadium and our 80,000-square-foot O’Neill Center
with its pool, arena and more. Ball fields, basketball and tennis
courts, fitness centers –– we’ve got recreation down.
Intramural and club sports
let you take advantage of
these facilities in games ranging from 5-on-5 basketball to
softball, dodgeball and soccer. Don’t see something? Organize it!

“At Western, I made connections that helped place me in
positions to advance my career and leadership skills. My
advice to students is: Talk to everyone, join clubs ... you’ll
be amazed at how much you can grow in your years at
Western as long as you put yourself out there.”
EMILY STALEY ’13, B.A., ART - PHOTOGRAPHY
“I was recruited to play baseball by other universities. I
came here because of the vibe, and (after) I watched a
practice … I got to stay on a recruiting visit with some
players on the team. Western met all the criteria.
CONOR BIERFELDT ’14, B.B.A., MARKETING
“Here, I learned to be professional not just in class but with
my peers. I would tell students to get involved on campus
because you’ll have a lot more fun in class if you feel like
you’re making a difference outside of it.”
