WHO GETS ACCESS:
All registered students receive access to the university's three 24-hour student computer labs. All commuter students receive access to the midtown commuter parking garage. All resident students receive access to their residence hall and room.
Faculty and Staff
Faculty and staff receive access as requested by their department heads or chairs. Full time faculty and staff access does not expire. Adjunct faculty, part time staff, graduate assistants, student workers, and contractor access all expires three times a year (end of spring semester, end of summer semester, end of fall semester). Access Request forms for these groups must be submitted by the departments in order for access to a given area to continue.
All full and part time faculty and staff receive card access to the parking gate for the Westside Campus faculty and staff parking lot located between the Westside Classroom Building and the O'Neill Center.
ACCESS REQUEST PROCEDURES:
As one semester ends and another begins, please take a moment to consider access needs for the members of your department. Each department is responsible for maintaining records of their access requests.
According to WCSU policy, key, card and alarm-code access will automatically expire at the end of every semester for all part-time faculty members, part-time staff and all student employees.
Please request these individuals return their keys to the WESTCONNect Card Office so that the keys may be removed from the individual’s inventory records. If any keys are returned to Department Chairpersons and/or secretaries, please forward them to the WESTCONNect Card Office. Keys may not be re-issued without an authorized request to the WESTCONNect Card Office staff.
If part-time faculty, staff and student employees in your department will require access for the new semester, please submit an Access Request Form to ensure no interruption in access services.
ACCESS REQUEST FORM:
It is required that Department or Division heads approve all requests for access to secured areas. Each department is responsible for maintaining records of their access requests. In situations where the specific area requested is outside of the department's area of responsibility, then authorization from the appropriate managing department will be requested.
All access should be submitted on the official access request form. No old forms, emails requests, or spreadsheets will be accepted. Only forms with authorization from the appropriate Department or Division Heads or Deans in the form of a signature or inclusion on an e-mailed form will be accepted. All keys are inventoried through a computerized key inventory system maintained by the university locksmiths. Each key issued is assigned to an individual who is responsible for its use/misuse. Please do not loan your keys to others, or provide unauthorized access to restricted areas by unlocking doors for others. Please do not "swap" keys with others as you are still responsible for the keys issued to you through the key inventory system. If there is a need to reassign keys please contact the WESTCONNect Card Office staff.
All individuals granted card or key access agree to the WESTCONNect Access Receipt and Responsibility Statement.
