When she chose which college to attend, she decided WestConn, even at full cost, was a better deal for her than a private Connecticut university that would have paid her way.
“The other university is an excellent school that many close relatives of mine attended in their college years,” Slie says. “The softball coach contacted me early in my senior year of high school because she was interested in me playing there. The minute I set foot on that campus, I did not feel comfortable. My dream of being in college was to be in a place that I just clicked to — a place where I felt at home, and that school was not it."
