Women's Studies

The WCSU Women’s Studies Program currently offers a minor in Women’s Studies and, for those particularly interested in any aspect of Gender Studies, a (contract) major is also available (consult the Program Director to discuss further). WCSU’s Gender/Women’s Studies Program at WCSU is primarily focused on the academic aspects of exploring and understanding society through the lens of critical scholarship, informed by the humanities and social sciences.

Our courses are offered across various programs and departments for those who seek more knowledge about the roles of women and other identities underrepresented historically and contemporarily. Our program is continually developing, with many faculty available to work with interested students.

As the intersection of theory and practice (praxis) is essential to any discipline, the WS program supports activities of other WCSU groups involving social, activist, community, and/or public involvements related to the field. For example, those involved with the Tri-Iota Honors Society have been particularly oriented toward service.
