Ashley Horton
Temporarily blind
The road once there is now gone
Misty evening fog
Morning silence
Smelling coffee from a far
The day has started
Glassy view
No waves from boats today
The lake is all alone
Suzana Sousa
clouds of gray above
storm comes loudly
rain splashes down
golden trees aligned
leaves fall gently
squirrels climbing
Jared Sturges
Sheen on the moon, glance
View the craters from afar
Closer than you think
Michael Cockburn
syringe filled,
full of joy
syringe empty,
filled with sadness.
Thomas Perkins
gravestones reflecting sunlight
bleached dry grass
stirred by drafts
shafts of light
red and yellow hang in trees
green and brown windfalls rot
bees collect and circle
Mark Ferry
blue skies and green treetops
air filled with scents
no birds in the sky
toys scattered across the floor
giggling from the bedroom
nursery rhymes
Rong Khleing
wave crashes
board gone under
surfs back to shore
sleep
cousin of death
bright light end of road
Alison Kass
Shadows on the brick wall
Black leaf shapes
Dance all night
Anonymous Haiku
Hide behind words
No one will ever know
Today comes
Without fail
Every single year
Jennifer Burks
open mailbox
stuffed with leaves
birdhouse
haiku assignment forces
early retirement
Nicole Pelella
two walk, hands held
preoccupied pair
separated by silence
Kristen Andreoli
Staring in the mirror
She smiles, brightly-
baby faced.
Eyelids flickering,
quickly blinking. I am
awake, cruel sun.
Kevin Albohn
Cool morning with colored leaves.
Fog across the warm water.
Winter is approaching.
Silence… except for
the flock of morning doves
picking seeds from the snow.
He steals the puck
Silence in the air… he shoots
Goal horn blasts, the crowd cheers
Nick Jacobowski
rolling on the ground
climbing up curtains
catnip
quiet parking lot
old man panhandling
people watching
Jonathan Goldman
Boat flees the shore
Roar from the bright sky
Fire on the Euphrates River
Furious eyes meet
Slow trigger squeeze
Pile of limbs
Unmistakable sound
A close gunshot
Face covered in red
Blinding sun burns my face
Vacant eyes look up from the grass
Rigor mortis
Night covers the earth
Able to see clear as day
Fear in his eyes
Moving with stealth
Over the sleeping man
Tightly grip his throat
Thomasina Murray
a nest weaved
between the window
four open bills
two candles reflect
two empty plates
the essence of love
sun light seeps through
the closed blind
room no longer dark
four steps a head
four steps behind
the shadow never caught
No screaming
No singing
No running water coming from the kitchen sink
The leaves are red
The leaves are greenish brown
A worn out tire hangs from the tree
Red leaves
Brown leaves
Green leaves
A ladybug is crawling on the tire
No dog barking, no laughter,
no creaking noises coming from the stairs
A worn tire hanging from the tree.
Kevin DeNunzio
Light switch on
Moth attracted
into the spiders trap
abandoned forest
century old campground
teenage graffiti
Two lovers
One shadow
Nothing else
Tree half dead
Breaths create clouds
on a clear starry night
aged dandelion
stands among
freshly cut grass
Amanda Blois
warmth brighter than any sun
melts darkness
grandma's love
tomato juice fills the lawn
with echoes of angry shouts
wet dog smell
Jake Kara
Charcoal windows
Kitten head-butts my ribs
Good morning
Thud! scratch. . .
Light flickers beneath the door
. . . little paws – meoooooow
Tinny speakers play good jazz
On an ice cream shop porch
A girl and boy smile
