The Alumni Association hosted many events throughout 2019. Let’s look back…
The Alumni from the Men’s basketball teams were invited back to campus for a game on Saturday, Dec. 14. Alumni from the 70’s through 2019/2020 played and enjoyed lunch before the men’s and women’s team got a chance to play.
The annual bus trip to New York City was enjoyed by all in attendance. Tom and Lois hosted two buses, stopping at Carmine’s on Broadway to begin the exploration of a holiday in the City.
A reception held on Nov. 9, at the Daily Grind for “A Little Night Music” directed by Tim Howard, the director of this performance. Tim and Isabella Mercaldo, a BFA Musical Theatre student, playing Petra, spoke to the guests about the show. Izzy spoke about preparing for a role and learning as she performs.
The Class of 1969 held their Golden Reunion as part of the 2019 Homecoming festivities. They took a tour of both campuses and enjoyed the entertainment under the Alumni Pavilion. Those who could not attend, sent pictures from home.
The WCSU Alumni Association’s 34th Annual Golf Tournament in memory of Neil Wagner ’52 was held Sept. 30. We had more than 30 foursomes and a sunny day.
WCSU celebrated an “Entering the Gates” ceremony as new students are welcomed onto campus Aug. 23.
Our Annual trip to Lake Compounce was on August 4. The ticket included parking, food and rides. Almost 100 tickets were sold to alumni and friends.
In July, two buses were filled for a trip to Yankee Stadium. All participants received a WCSU Yankee hat.
The Providence, RI bus trip in July provided a tour of the quaint streets, shopping, Italian pastries and a gondola ride.
The Alumni Association hosted a bus trip to the 911 Memorial in New York City in June.
Alumni continue to participate in Commencement. This year we had many attend the ceremony in Bridgeport on May 19.
The WCSU Grad Salute, held May 8, two weeks before commencement, is a large event in which alumni are encouraged to participate. Almost 1000 students pick up their regalia and the entire WCSU community assist with the successful distribution.
“Crazy for You” was the performance in April. Tom Crucitti provided alumni raffle prizes for those attending the pre-theatre reception.
The Alumni Nursing Society held their annual dinner on April 25. Students presented their work to faculty and alumni.
The Alumni Association held a pre-theatre reception on March 6 at The Daily Grind. They the saw the performance of “The Magic Flute.”
One of the most important events the Alumni Association sponsors is the scholarship dinner held in April. Dr. John Clark joins us for the festivities and each scholarship recipient is invited for a night out with family and friends.
