Rute Mendes Caetano ’99
Rute Mendes Caetano has been involved with Western Connecticut University for many years and truly enjoys interacting with students. Through the years she has been a speaker at the Entering the Gates ceremony, has participated in the Mock Trial program, has been part of career forum panels and has spoken directly to several classes in the Justice and Law department.
Rute graduated from the Justice and Law program in 1999 and went on to earn her Juris Doctorate from New England School of Law in 2002. After working in Boston for a few years, she returned to Connecticut to continue her legal career with Ventura Law, where she is a partner. Rute works in civil litigation, focusing on personal injury, and values the time she spends each day addressing and helping resolve the issues that her clients face. She also frequently represents victims in sexual assault cases in the local criminal courts.
Aside from being part of the Alumni Association Board, Rute is also involved with the local Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut and is on the Board of Governors for the Connecticut Bar Association. She also is a founding member of the Portuguese Bar Association of Connecticut and Portuguese American Bar Association.
