Judy Glantzman is a native New Yorker and a 1978 graduate of Rhode Island School of Design. With exhibitions in New York since 1983, she first received critical attention for her early shows in the East Village at Civilian Warfare and Gracie Mansion, then later with Blum Helman and Hirschl & Adler Modern. Since 2006, she has been represented by the Betty Cuningham Gallery. She has taught at RISD, New York Studio School, MICA, and Purchase College.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In 2009, the Dactyl Foundation in NY held a thirty-year retrospective of Glantzman\u2019s work.\u00a0 Among her numerous awards are a Guggenheim Fellowship, two grants from the NY Foundation for the Arts, a Pollock Krasner Foundation grant, and a NY Artist Space exhibition grant.\u00a0 Her works are in many collections, including the Whitney Museum and Grey Art Gallery of NYU. Her 2015 solo show at Betty Cuningham was a response to the painting \u201cDressing for the Carnival\u201d by Winslow Homer. Her 2013 solo show was in response to Picasso\u2019s \u201cGuernica\u201d. Often through the lens of art history, Glantzman continually explores the darker elements of human nature under the surface of polite society.<\/p>\n
