{"id":19,"date":"2016-08-22T16:40:49","date_gmt":"2016-08-22T16:40:49","guid":{"rendered":"\/asb\/grad\/default-2\/faq\/"},"modified":"2023-05-02T13:25:07","modified_gmt":"2023-05-02T13:25:07","slug":"faq","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/asb\/grad\/mba\/faq\/","title":{"rendered":"MBA Frequently Asked Questions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Q:\u00a0 Who teaches the MBA courses?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The instructors are full-time faculty members in the Ancell School of Business who have earned appropriate terminal degrees and who are also active consultants, members of boards of directors, expert witnesses, or former corporate or business executives.<\/p>\n<p>Occasionally a course is taught by an adjunct instructor having an outstanding background and work experience, usually as an executive or upper-level manager in a well-regarded business or organization.<\/p>\n<p>To see a full listing of our Ancell instructors, please visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/catalogs.wcsu.edu\/grad\/asb\/programs\/master-of-business-administration\/\">catalog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q:\u00a0 How many students per class?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Most MBA courses have fewer than 20 students, which promotes classroom interactions, allows for exercises and activities, and provides for access to the faculty.\u00a0 There are no large lecture hall classes in this program.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q:\u00a0 When are MBA courses scheduled?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Our program easily accommodates both part and full time students with courses scheduled during evening hours and on occasional Saturday&#8217;s. Courses are mainly offered in fall and spring, but several are offered during the summer and winter intersession.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q:\u00a0 How quickly can the MBA program be completed?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Working Professionals (Part-time): Students can take one or two courses in the fall, spring, summer and intersession, completing the degree in as little as two years.<\/p>\n<p>Full-time Students: For students able to make a full-time commitment including summer and intersession, the program can be completed in 12-14 months depending on required\u00a0prerequisites.<\/p>\n<p>Our scheduling also\u00a0meets the needs of Accounting graduates who are completing Connecticut\u2019s 150 credit hour requirement prior to joining accounting firms.<\/p>\n<p>Typically, students complete their MBA degree in 1 \u00bd &#8211; 4 years.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q:\u00a0 Is the MBA program accredited?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Western\u2019s\u00a0Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) program is accredited by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aacsb.edu\/about-us\">Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB)<\/a>,<\/p>\n<p>Western\u2019s M.B.A. program focuses on preparing students for managerial positions and leadership roles in\u00a0contemporary organizations. Students acquire vital knowledge about business and organizational functions and activities. Students are challenged to think strategically and to hone skills needed to succeed in competitive environments.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, all WCSU programs are licensed and reviewed by the State of Connecticut.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q:\u00a0 Where and what hours do MBA classes meet?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>All MBA classes meet in the Classroom building on our convenient Westside Campus (off Exit 4 of I-84). \u00a0The adjoining Westside Campus Center provides dining and other amenities, including a coffee bar. Some courses may be offered in online or hybrid formats and occasionally at 8 p.m. or on weekends.<\/p>\n<p>Most MBA classes meet for 2 \u00bd hours one evening each week (Monday through Thursday) for 15 or 16 weeks:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>5:25 to 7:55 PM for the majority of the courses, and<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>8:00 to 10:30 PM for the remaining courses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Most Summer MBA classes meet three evenings per week for five (5) weeks during May-June or July.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Compressed courses (5 full days in one week, for example) and online courses are occasionally offered during the January and May intersessions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q:\u00a0 Is there an exception to the Graduate Management Admissions Test requirement?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Yes, you may receive a GMAT or GRE waiver if you have significant professional business and management experience, recognized professional certification (CPS, CFA, CMA, CIA, CFP), past graduate degree (master\u2019s or higher), or a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0, or take two MBA 3 S.H. program courses as a non-matriculated student in one semester, and receive an average grade of 3.67 or better. Contact M.B.A. Coordinator for details on this process.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q:\u00a0 What is the minimum grade point average and the minimum GMAT score required for admission to the MBA program?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There is no minimum GPA or minimum GMAT score.\u00a0 We construct an admissions score by combining your total GMAT score and your total undergraduate GPA based on all courses at all schools you attended.<\/p>\n<p>In general, admission to the MBA will be determined using the following MBA Admission Formula Score:<br \/>\n(Undergraduate GPA x 200) + GMAT score &gt; 1,050<\/p>\n<p>The higher your GPA, the lower the GMAT score you need.\u00a0 The lower your GPA, the higher the GMAT score you need.\u00a0 You can discuss your particular case with the MBA Coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q:\u00a0 Can I transfer graduate credits into the MBA program?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Yes, graduate courses taken at other schools may be transferable to WCSU\u2019s MBA program.\u00a0 The limit on transfer credits is twelve.\u00a0 Please see our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/asb\/grad\/mba\/admissreq\/\">graduate admission requirements<\/a>.
