Assistantships are not scholarships (which are awarded independently of any expectation of corresponding activity), and they are not work\/study appointments (which provide hourly wages for usually non-educational work).<br \/>Graduate Assistant positions are available to well-qualified, matriculated graduate students in institutional activities that are academically relevant to the student&#8217;s program of study. Requirements to be met for these positions are:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Graduate student matriculated in a Graduate program<\/li>\r\n<li>GPA of 3.00 or higher<\/li>\r\n<li>Graduate student registered in the current semester<\/li>\r\n<li>Graduate Assistants may not be employed by any other employment category of the university.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>Stipends awarded to Graduate Assistants range from $1200 to $4800 per semester as defined by the Board of Regents for the CSCU system. An award from $1200 to $2400 is considered a half time assistantship and does not exceed 10 hours of work per week. An award above $2400 and up to $4800 is considered a full-time assistantship and does not exceed 20 hours of work per week.<\/p>\r\n<p>In addition to a stipend award, full-time graduate students (enrolled in nine credits or more per semester) have the following fees waived:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>State University Fee<\/li>\r\n<li>University General Fee except for that portion attributable to student accident insurance<\/li>\r\n<li>Student Activity Fee<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>If you are interested in applying for a Graduate Assistantship at WCSU for the MS Biological Diversity program, please speak to the Biology Graduate Program Coordinator(s) and fill out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/biology-msbiodiversity\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/193\/2024\/10\/Graduate-Assistant-Application_2024.pdf\">Graduate-Assistant-Application<\/a>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Graduate Assistantships provide on-campus*, extracurricular, hands-on learning experiences and stipends to graduate students.
